About the Unit

Bronson Battle Creek Birthplace includes Labor & Delivery, Mother-Baby, and Antepartum care, providing comprehensive support for mothers and newborns throughout the childbirth journey.

Our team delivers compassionate, patient-centered care while supporting families during one of life’s most meaningful experiences.

Position Summary

Under general supervision and in accordance with organizational policies and the Michigan Public Health Code, the Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care throughout the hospital stay to achieve optimal outcomes and safe, timely discharge.

The RN uses the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care while coordinating interdisciplinary services, delegating tasks appropriately, and documenting patient progress and needs.

Education & Licensure Requirements

Required:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Active Michigan RN license
  • BLS certification upon completion of orientation

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • BSN must be obtained within 8 years of hire if not held at time of employment

Unit-Specific Requirements

  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification (PQF or NCC) required within 6 months after intermediate fetal monitoring training
  • Additional certifications may be required based on department needs

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Clinical Practice

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
  • Implement evidence-based interventions and evaluate patient outcomes
  • Administer medications and treatments safely and effectively
  • Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams
  • Provide patient and family education
  • Ensure accurate documentation in the electronic medical record

Professional Practice & Collaboration

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Maintain clinical competency and professional development
  • Support a collaborative, respectful care environment
  • Serve as a patient advocate and uphold ethical nursing standards
  • Participate in unit councils, committees, and staff meetings

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, and communication
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with patient movement
  • Sustained concentration and computer use required

Schedule

  • Full-Time | 36 hours/week
  • 12-hour day shift (7a–7p)
